In this post, we will introduce the newly developed Colorimetric Patch Analyzer (CPA) unit - a tool that is used to analysis oil conditions; using transmitting and reflective light technology.
Developed in collaboration with KLEENTEK Corp., Japan - this Colorimetric Patch Analyzer ("CPA") together with KLEENTEK: Electrostatic Oil Cleaner ('EOC') offered a total solutions to your varnish problems for Gas Turbine Oils.
Colorimetric Patch Analyzer ('CPA') unit is used to study the contaminant by colour. Developed by Dr. Sasaki, previously from KLEENTEK Corp., Japan - who is well known scientist in the industry who have done intensive study on oil oxidation products.
In 2012, STLE adopt ASTM D7843 to check contaminant by color. Contaminants both insoluble and soluble are trapped on the membrane patch can be checked by transmitting and reflecting light. Therefore, we can predict oil condition at early stage to prevent oil from getting oxidized. See attached presentation prepared by Dr. Sasaki on this history and development of CPA unit.
if you've read some of our earlier post - some of the current method to check contaminants includes:-
Particle count (NAS 1638, ISO4400)
Gravimetric measurement (unit: mg/100ml)
The above mentioned methods are not reliable to predict if oils are oxidized, oxidation products have intermediate oil oxidation products and turbine oil operate at higher oil temperature.

Included in this post, we've include a summary of the technical specification of the Colorimetric Patch Analyzer ("CPA")
